Winter Wonderland

YAY! I woke up on Thursday and it was snowing a little bit. I woke up on yesterday and my balcony was white. I woke up today and there’s enough snow to have a snowball fight. It’s a pity that I have to have a cold now… but oh well. That’s life. Hopeful the snow stays and my cold leaves. I would appreciate that very much. Last week I wrote my last exam for the semester. Now there’s only small quizzes and homework left. So in a way the snow came in perfect timing, since I may actually have some free minutes to enjoy it now. Today my neighbor is celebrating her birthday and I have dancing. I want to clean up my room some and I should probably do some of my homework too. This is the first weekend that I have not spent only working. It really is something special!

I just got back from a long exhausting day. School from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with one break and then acrobatics until 7 p.m. Walking home from the bus it was raining, so I got here wet. I haven’t gotten to drying yet, so I’m still dripping a little. While I was walking, random French sentences started popping up in my head. “C’est inutile!” or “Ca veut dire quoi au fait?”. Yes, very annoying. I kept on thinking that I should change my train of thoughts into a little more “useful” English essay thinking. Of course this began a debate in my head about when to do my English essay. In French. I don’t mean writing the English essay in French, I meant thinking about writing it, in French. I do know the comma doesn’t really go there, but it makes sense. So I notice I’m getting off track here. I guess I’m too tired. Aside from that I’m going to make myself some food and do some homework. I need to study for a drama exam, but I really don’t know what’s on it, since we haven’t really done much. I will let myself be surprised. Who knows!

Tomorrow I’m flying to France, so I won’t be writing much then, but after that I want to do some pretty fall nails. What say? But I can’t think of any good design except for one thing… which may be a little too difficult.

Just got back from watching “The Social Network”. I felt it inspiring to write something, although I don’t know what yet. At least it is a good sign that I am still alive and have some ideas after not writing for weeks, or is it months. Anyway, I liked the movie, although it was not what I expected. I thought I would see more of a critical view, but instead it was really just a story around the life of the inventor(s) of facebook. Yes, I too am a culprit: I check my e-mails and my account at least twice a day, usually just to find out that nothing is new. So, thinking about the future I have come to realize that more and more out private life will be our professional life. I guess it’s not very different from what my life is now since I still go to school, but later… I don’t know. And if our private life becomes our professional life then won’t our private life be less private and our professional life less professional? I’m scared of sitting in front of a screen while checking how my neighbor is doing instead of just going outside and talking to people. The computer will be a playground and an office at the same time. I guess it has positive sides, but then how will you know if people are real? Can you trust them? Does their status really tell you how they are? Will you even care?! Anyway, I think I will take a step back and try to withdraw myself from all the hustle around the internet. I love you google, but to find out where the nearest bus stop is, I think I will use a map next time.

P.S. I will now turn off my computer completely and leave it off for at least 10 hours. D.S.

Summer and some more

So, yesterday I went shopping. I was actually out to buy presents (which I finally did) but first I got stuck in H&M, Bijoux Brigitte, Pimkie, and New Yorker. I am really mad that I missed out on all the great H&M summer sales! I came back from Sweden just after they were over! So actually I’m looking for a pair of shorts which I found at Monki in Sweden, but ended up not buying. I found one at American Apparel, but I don’t like shopping if the stuff isn’t on sale…

Well, after I had been wandering around for quite a while wondering what to get I had ideas for my presents. I bought that stuff and then I went on to please my needs/likes. I tried on six different tops and ended up getting three for 13 €. That would be $ 17.2. I really didn’t need anything, but I just thought I’d treat myself, so I did. I’m leaving for France for a week on Saturday and I’m really excited about getting to the beach and all those nice things.

For today I have no plans except for maybe sewing. I also have to plan and do some other stuff, but I will be fine!

Just a little summer update!

So, I have 5 more days of school left. And each one of them will be no more than a little cloud in the bright blue sky. Today my French exchange, me, and my neighbor will be selling things on the market nearby our house. It’s mostly for fun, and to get rid of the things. So I will really not be earning much money. But whatever I will get I need! I went yesterday to go see what was wrong with my camera and the guy I talked to said it would cost just as much to get it repaired and it would cost to get a new one. So I finally have something to spend some money on. I don’t want or need anything really fancy, but I will see what I can find. Anyway, mosquito season has started now. It’s not exactly pleasant, but we will survive. The only thing that is good about is the good weather and the strawberries! There is definitely nothing better right now than fresh strawberries!!! I need to do my nails, but I don’t know what I should put on them… anyone have any ideas?

Well, now I haven’t written in a while and I believe that I have not told you that my French exchange student has come. Although there were some original difficulties getting organized, I think we are having quite a bit of fun now. Last Monday was Memorial Day so we had off from school. My dad, his girlfriend, my exchange, and I went to an indoor water park a little way outside of Berlin. It was great fun, I thought. So that was the nicer beginning of the week. Starting Wednesday my week took a drastic turn… sort of. We had our sports day outside on Wednesday and it was freezing cold, and it even started raining! GROSS! So that is part of my current state. The second half is my sport class on Thursday. For some reason our sport teachers decided they would let the guys play flag football with the girls. GREAT IDEA! I am scared off balls, and if a guy throws a ball to me, there is no way, I will not scream for my life. There just isn’t. So I was the only girl on my team (what a fair choice). And two or three times I just had to scream my lungs out! The only good thing about yesterday was the weather change. It is now sunny and warm! (Should have come a day earlier). Due to my screaming and the nasty weather my throat began to hurt. I wouldn’t really have cared if it wouldn’t be for the concert yesterday evening and tonight I’m playing in a club. Why today??? So I have been trying to shut my mouth and keep quiet. And this morning I woke up, the sun is shining, and my throat hurts less, but it is still quite painful swallowing.

I hope some people out there are enjoying the sun, the blue sky, and GO LISTEN TO SOME OLD BEATLES RECORDS! Nothing makes you happier!

Saint Brieuc meets Berlin

Today, my French exchange student came over. She will be here for 2 months now! It will be so fun. Anyways… I’m sort of in the process of working out plans. On Sunday we will go to the Karneval der Kulturen. For those who don’t know about it, it is this caravan procession through Berlin with tons of show acts and stuff. It’s really fun! We will meet some friends there too. I will try to write more now. It will be difficult to work at the same time!
